Leg

Using double-pointed needles cast on 50 sts loosely. Distribute sts over 4 of the 5 needles ( needle I.:13 sts, needle II.: 12 sts, needle III.: 11 sts, needle IV.: 14 sts) and, taking care not to twist cast-on edge and using 5th needle, work in rounds as follows:

Work in rib in round 2 cm. Beg and ending rnds as indicated, cont in patt from chart as folls:

Needle I.: cont 13 sts in rib in round

Needle II. & III.: work 23 st patt from written instructions =row 1

Needle IV.: cont 14 sts in rib in round

Work sts on needle I. and IV. in rib in round and sts on needle II. and III. in patt from written instructions, rep rows 1-6. Work until leg meas 17 cm.

Heel Flap and Gusset

Start the heel flap. Work 12 sts of needle I., put 1 st from left end onto needle II. Put 13 sts of needle IV. onto needle I =25 sts. Put rem 1 st of needle IV. onto needle III. Leave sts on needle II. and III.waiting. Work the 25 heel sts back and forth in rows as folls:

WS: Row 1: slip 1 st with yarn in back, purl to end, turn.

RS: Row 2: * slip 1 st with yarn in back, K1, rep from * to end, turn.

Rep rows 1-2 13 times =26 rows. Work 1 WS row.

Turn Heel

RS: Row 1: Work until you have 9 sts left on your left hand needle, sl1,K1,psso, turn.

WS: Row 2: slip 1 st with yarn in back, P7, P2tog, turn.

RS: Row 3: slip 1 st with yarn in back, work until you have 8 sts left on your left hand needle, sl1,K1,psso, turn.

Rep rows 2-3 until all sts have been worked, ending with a RS row. Note that the number of sts left on your left hand needle is decreased by one every other row. Divide 9 heel sts onto needle I. =4 sts and needle IV. =5 sts.

Needle I. : K4, pick up and knit 14 sts along left edge of heel flap

Needle II. and III.: K1, cont 23 st patt from written instructions, K1

Needle IV: pick up and knit 14 sts along right edge of heel flap, K5.

Join for working in rnds = 62 sts. Work sts on needle I. and IV. in stocking st in round and sts on needle II. and III. in patt from written instructions.

Shape Gusset

Put 1 st from the beg of needle II. back onto needle I. Put 1 st from the end of needle III. back onto needle IV.

Dec rnd 1: Needle I. : work until you have 2 sts left on needle I., K2tog

Needle II. and III.: cont 23 st patt from written instructions

Needle IV: sl1,K1,psso, work to end.

Work 1 rnd.

Rep dec rnd.

Work 1 rnd.

Rep dec rnd.

Work 2 rnds.

Rep dec rnd every 3rd rnd until the amount of sts is 50.

Foot

Cont working until foot meas 22 cm or until foot covers your little toe. End with rnd 6 of written instructions.

Toe

Dec rnd 1: Needle I. : work until you have 2 sts left on needle I., K2tog

Needle II. and Needle III. : cont in 23 st patt from written instructions omitting yrns =purled sts will be decreased at each end.

Needle IV: sl1,K1,psso, work to end of needle IV.

Work until you have decreased 5 sts at each end of lace patt.

Dec rnd 2: Needle I. : work until you have 2 sts left on needle I., K2tog

Needle II. : sl1,K1,psso, work in stocking st in round to end of needle II.

Needle III.: work in stocking st in round until you have 2 sts left on needle III., K2tog

Needle IV: sl1,K1,psso, work to end of needle IV.

Rep dec rnd 2 every rnd until the amount of sts is 6.

Break yarn leaving a long end. Pull end through all sts and tighten it. Weave in all ends.
