Using double-pointed needles cast on 50 sts loosely. Distribute sts over 4 of the 5 needles ( needle I.:13 sts, needle II.: 12 sts, needle III.: 11 sts, needle IV.: 14 sts) and, taking care not to twist cast-on edge and using 5th needle, work in rounds as follows:

Work in rib in round 2 cm. Beg and ending rnds as indicated, cont in patt from chart as folls:

Needle IV.: cont 14 sts in rib in round

Work sts on needle I. and IV. in rib in round and sts on needle II. and III. in patt from written instructions, rep rows 1-6. Work until leg meas 17 cm.

Heel Flap and Gusset

Start the heel flap. Work 12 sts of needle I., put 1 st from left end onto needle II. Put 13 sts of needle IV. onto needle I =25 sts. Put rem 1 st of needle IV. onto needle III. Leave sts on needle II. and III.waiting. Work the 25 heel sts back and forth in rows as folls:

WS: Row 1: slip 1 st with yarn in back, purl to end, turn.

RS: Row 2: * slip 1 st with yarn in back, K1, rep from * to end, turn.

Rep rows 1-2 13 times =26 rows. Work 1 WS row.

Turn Heel

RS: Row 1: Work until you have 9 sts left on your left hand needle, sl1,K1,psso, turn.

WS: Row 2: slip 1 st with yarn in back, P7, P2tog, turn.

RS: Row 3: slip 1 st with yarn in back, work until you have 8 sts left on your left hand needle, sl1,K1,psso, turn.
