Stitch patterns Garter stitch: knit all rows. Lace pattern: knit following the chart and the written instructions.
Gauge 17 sts in garter stitch = 10 cm
Cast on 163 sts and work in garter stitch for 15 rows.
Begin the lace pattern from row 1 of chart I: k4 from the right end, repeat the 12 st pattern repeat for a total of 13 times and k3 on the left end. Work rows 1–48 of chart. Note: On rows 9 and 47, the last decrease is a skp decrease (slip 1, knit 1 and pass the slipped st over).
Continue working the lace pattern from row 49: k1 from the right end, repeat the 20 ts pattern repeat 8 times, k2 on the left end. Work rows 49–76 for a total of 6 times.
Work in garter stitch for 4 rows (rows 77–80 on chart I). You are now halfway through, the other side of the blanket is knitted as the mirror image of the first side. Work in garter stitch for another 4 rows (81–84 on chart II).
Continue the lace pattern from row 85 of chart II: k21 on the right end, repeat the 20 st pattern repeat for 7 times, k2 on the left end. Work rows 85–112 of chart for a total of 6 times.
Continue the lace pattern from row 113 of chart: k4 on the right end, repeat the 12 st pattern repeat for 13 times in total, k3 on the left end. Work rows 113–159 of chart. Note: on rows 139 and 149, the last decrease is a skp decrease.
Work in garter st for 15 rows and bind off loosely.
