Begin the cable pattern on row 1 of Chart I: work the 4 sts at the right end, work the pattern repeat 6(6)7(7)8(8) times, work the 0(12)0(12)0(12) sts at the left end, p1(0)1(0)1(0). 1 st was increased at each cable motif and you have 137(148)159(170)181(192) sts. Repeat chart rows 2–13.
When the piece measures 9(10)10(11)11(12) cm / 3.75(4)4(4.25)4.25(4.75)”, decrease 1 st on both sides. Repeat the decreases every 9 cm / 3.5” twice more = 131(142)153(164)175(186) sts.
When the piece measures 35(36)37(38)41(43) cm / 13.75(14.25)14.5(15)16.25(17)”, on every other row bind off 1x5 sts, 2x2 sts and 1x1 sts for armhole on both sides = 111(122)133(144)155(166) sts.
When the armholes measure 17(18)19(20)20(21) cm / 6.75(7)7.5(7.75)7.75(8.25)”, bind off the middle 35(36)35(38)39(38) sts for the neck. Work one side of the neck at a time. On every other row, bind off 2x2 sts at neck edge.
When the armhole measures 19(20)21(22)22(23) cm / 7.5(7.75)8.25(8.5)8.5(9)”, bind off the remaining 34(39)45(49)54(60) shoulder sts. Work the other side of the neck in the same way.
Left front
Cast on 68(68)78(78)88(88) sts and begin garter stitch and rib stitch (1st row is a WS row) as follows: k6, *k1, p1*, repeat *–* to last st, k1. Work the 6 sts at the left edge of piece (front edge) in garter stitch and other sts in rib stitch. Work until the piece measures 4 cm, finishing with a WS row.
Begin the cable pattern on row 1 of Chart I: work the 4 sts at the right end, repeat the pattern repeat to last 6 sts, k6. 1 st was increased at each cable motif and you have 74(74)85(85)96(96) sts. Continue working the 6 front edge sts in garter st and with other sts repeat chart rows 2–13.

When the armhole measures 19(20)21(22)22(23) cm / 7.5(7.75)8.25(8.5)8.5(9)”, bind off the remaining 34(39)45(49)54(60) shoulder sts. You have 6 front edge sts on needles. On next WS row, increase 1 st at end of row for seaming. Continue to work in garter stitch until the piece is half as long as the width of back neck, slightly stretched. Leave the sts on hold.
Attach a marker for each button on the garter stitch edging as follows: place the topmost marker at the start of the v-neck, the lowest marker 2 cm / 0.75” from the bottom edge, and the other 3 markers evenly in between.
Right front
Mirror left front (don’t mirror the cable crosses) and make buttonholes on the front edge. Match the place of the buttonholes with the markers on left front. Buttonhole row (RS): k2, k2tog, yo, work to end.
V-neck decreases: At each cable motif, work the decrease as follows: slip 1 st knitwise, k1, pass the slipped st over the knit stitch. At purl sts, work the decrease by purling 2 sts together.
Sleeves
Cast on 61(63)63(67)67(69) sts and begin rib stitch with a purl(knit)knit(knit)knit(purl) stitch. The 1st row is a WS row. Work in rib stitch for 4 cm / 1.25”.
Begin the cable pattern on row 1 of Chart II (see arrows for starting point): work 2(3)3(5)5(6) sts at the right end, repeat the pattern repeat to end of row. 1 st was increased at each cable motif and you have 67(69)69(73)73(75) sts. Repeat chart rows 2–13.
When the piece measures 6(12)5(5)12(10) cm / 2.25(4.75)2(2)4.75(4)”, increase 1 st on both sides. Repeat the increases every 2.5(2)2(2)1.5(1.5) cm / 1(0.75)0.75(0.75)0.6” another 15(17)20(21)23(25) times = 99(105)111(117)121(127) sts. Work the increased sts in cable pattern.
When the piece measures 45(46)47(48)48(49) cm / 17.75(18)18.5(19)19(19.25), bind off on both sides on every other row: 1x5 sts, 2x2 sts and 1x1 sts. Bind off the remaining sts.
Work the other sleeve in the same way.
Finishing
Pin the pieces to measurements wrong side up, mist and allow to dry.
Sew the shoulder seams.
Pin the neckband to back neck and sew in place. Sew or graft the live sts of neckband together.
Attach the sleeves. Sew the side seams and sleeve seams. Sew on the buttons.

Attach a marker for each button on the garter stitch edging as follows: place the topmost marker at the start of the v-neck, the lowest marker 2 cm / 0.75” from the bottom edge, and the other 3 markers evenly in between.
Right front
Mirror left front (don’t mirror the cable crosses) and make buttonholes on the front edge. Match the place of the buttonholes with the markers on left front. Buttonhole row (RS): k2, k2tog, yo, work to end.

When the piece measures 45(46)47(48)48(49) cm / 17.75(18)18.5(19)19(19.25), bind off on both sides on every other row: 1x5 sts, 2x2 sts and 1x1 sts. Bind off the remaining sts.
Work the other sleeve in the same way.
Finishing
Pin the pieces to measurements wrong side up, mist and allow to dry.
Sew the shoulder seams.
Pin the neckband to back neck and sew in place. Sew or graft the live sts of neckband together.
Attach the sleeves. Sew the side seams and sleeve seams. Sew on the buttons.
