Leg
Using double-pointed needles cast on 44 sts loosely. Distribute sts over 4 of the 5 needles ( =10, 12, 10, 12 sts on each needle) and, taking care not to twist cast-on edge and using 5th needle, work in rounds as follows:
Work in rib in round 5 rnds. Beg and ending rnds as indicated, cont in patt from chart as folls:
Rnd 1: work as indicated in chart from A to B, then from B to C twice. Rep rnds 1-8 4 times. Work rnds 1-4.
Heel Flap and Gusset
Start the heel flap. Turn. Purl 12 sts of needle IV. onto needle III. =22 sts. Leave sts on needle I. and II.waiting. Work the 22 heel sts back and forth in rows in stocking st until you have worked 19 rows.
Turn Heel
RS: Row 1: Work until you have 7 sts left on your left hand needle, sl1,K1,psso, turn.
WS: Row 2: sl1wyf (=with yarn in front), P8, P2tog, turn.
RS: Row 3: sl1wyb (=with yarn in back), work until you have 6 sts left on your left hand needle, sl1,K1,psso, turn.
Rep rows 2-3 until all sts have been worked, ending with a RS row. Note that the number of sts left on your left hand needle is decreased by one every other row. Divide 10 heel sts onto needle I. =5 sts and needle IV. =5 sts.
Needle I. : K5, pick up and knit 12 sts along left edge of heel flap
Needle II. and III.: cont in patt from chart,
Needle IV: pick up and knit 12 sts along right edge of heel flap, K5.
Join for working in rnds. Work sts on needle III. and IV. in stocking st in round and sts on needle I. and II. in patt from chart.
Shape Gusset
Dec rnd 1: Needle I. and II. : cont in patt from chart
Needle III.: sl1, K1, psso, work to end of needle III.,
Needle IV: work until you have 2 sts left on needle I., K2tog
Work 1 rnd.
Rep dec rnd every alt rnd until the amount of sts is 11 on needle III. and on needle IV. as well.
Foot
Cont working until foot covers your little toe. End with rnd 4 or 8 in chart. Cont in stocking st in round.

Rnd 1: Needle I. : K1, sl1,K1,psso, patt to end of needle I.,
Needle II. : work until you have 3 sts left on needle I., K2tog, K1
Needle III.: K1, sl1,K1,psso, patt to end of needle III.,
