Socks (both alike)
Socks are worked from toe up. Ch8. Using crochet hook pick up 8 sts onto double poited needle from one edge of the chain and 8 sts onto 2nd double poited needle from another edge of the chain =16 sts. Distribute sts evenly over 4 of the 5 needles ( 4 sts on each needle) and using 5th needle, work in rounds as follows: Work in stocking st in round. Work 1 rnd. Start increases as folls: I. and III. needle: K1, yrn, work to end of the needle, II. and IV. needle: work until you have 1 st left, yrn, K1.
Next rnd: Knit yrns throught the back loops. Rep increases every alt rnd until you have 12 sts on each needle and increase 1 extra st onto II. needle during the last rnd.
Beg and ending rnds as indicated, cont in patt from chart I. in the middle of I. and II. needle as folls:
Rnd 6: I. and II. needle : K4, work 17st patt from chart I., K4, III. and IV. needle: work in stocking st. Rep rnds 1-6 in chart. Number of sts in lace chart varies on different rnds. Work until sock meas about 14 cm. Increase 1 st at the beg of III. needle and 1 st et the end of IV. needle. Rep inc every 4th rnd twice = 55sts. Work until sock meas 18cm.
Shape Heel
Work to end of IV. needle, turn. Sl1 purlwise, tighten yarn at the back of work so that 1 st from row bellow slipped st rises onto needle =double st, purl to end of III.needle. Turn. Sl1 purlwise in same method as before =double st. Cont working short rows and always turn before previous double st on the needle. Work until you have 10 sts in the middle, end with RS row. Start long rows as folls: Work 10 sts + 1 double st. * Turn, sl1double st, work until you have worked 2 double sts, rep from * until you have worked all sts. Work 2 rnds over all needles as folls: work I. and II. needle in lace patt as before and III. and IV. needle in stocking st. AT THE SAME TIME pick up 1 st onto I. and IV. needle in between heel and stocking st to prevent from forming holes.
