Leg

Using burnt orange yarn and double-pointed needles cast on 52[64:72] sts loosely. Distribute sts over 4 of the 5 needles ( = 16[20:22] sts on needle I. and IV. and 10[12:14] sts on needle II. and III.) and, taking care not to twist cast-on edge and using 5th needle, work in rounds as follows:

Work in rib in round 3 cm. Knit 1 rnd.

Cont in striping according to stitch pattern instructions. Work until leg meas 8[15:15] cm.

Dec rnd: Needle I.: K1, K2tog, work to end of needle I.

Needle II. and III. : knit,

Needle IV. : work to last 3 sts, sl1,K1,psso, K1.

Rep dec rnd every 8th rnd once more and every 4th rnd 4(6)6 times = 40[48:56] sts (=10[12:14] sts on each needle). Work until leg meas 24[34:34] cm, end with rnd worked in burnt orange.

Heel Opening

Put sts of needle I. and needle IV. onto a holder. Using burnt orange yarn cast on 30[34:38] sts and divide them evenly onto needle I. and IV. Cont in round.

Knit 1 rnd using burnt orange yarn. Cont in stripe patt.

Foot

Cont working until foot meas 10[14:19] cm. Heel worked later will add to foot's length.

Toe

Dec rnd: K2tog in the middle and at the end of each needle =32[40:48] sts.

Work 4 rnds.

Rep dec rnd = 24[32:40] sts.

Work 3 rnds.

Rep dec rnd = 16[24:32] sts.

Work 2 rnds.

Rep dec rnd as given until the amount of sts is 8. Break yarn leaving a long end. Pull end through all sts and tighten it. Weave in all ends.

Heel

Using burnt orange yarn pick up and knit sts from heel cast-on edge onto 2 needles. Pick up and knit 1 sts at both ends to prevent forming holes. Put sts from a holder onto 2 needles = 52[60:68] sts. Distribute sts over 4 needles (=13[15:17] sts on each needle) and, work in rounds as follows:

Knit 1 rnd and AT THE SAME TIME dec 1 st on each needle = 48[56:64] sts.

Dec rnd: K2tog in the middle and at the end of each needle =40[48:56] sts.

Size 38 and 46 only: Work 5 rnds. Rep dec rnd = 40[40:48] sts.

All sizes: Work 4 rnds.

Rep dec rnd = 32[32:40] sts.

Work 3 rnds.

Rep dec rnd = 24[24:32] sts.

Work 2 rnds.

Rep dec rnd as given until the amount of sts is 8. Break yarn leaving a long end. Pull end through all sts and tighten it. Weave in all ends.
