Trunk
Work 6 sts as folls: K6, * do not turn, slit sts back onto your left hand needle, K6, rep from * 9 times. Cast off sts.
To Make Up
Weave in all ends. Lightly steam the fir.
Felt ornaments in a washing machine. Use standard 40°C washing programme and laundry detergent. Add to the machine small amount of some other laundry such as 2 towels. Don't overfill the machine. Various machines felt wool differently. Shape ornaments to the desired dimensions after washing by pulling and brushing them into shape. You can repeat the felting process if needed.
Loop
Using thin wool or wool-blend yarn ch40. Attach the loop on top of the fir.
Embroidery
Using thin wool or wool-blend yarn and basting stitch sew around the edges of the fir. Use a sharp needle and sew only on the top of the fir, not through the fir.
