Stitch patterns:
- Ribbing in the round:
*k1, p1*, repeat *-*.
- Ribbing:
*k1, p1*, repeat *-*. On the wrong side rows
Start
Cast on 40 sts and divide them onto four needles. Work ribbing in the round for 3 rounds.
Now work flat. RS: work 1 st in garter st (edge st), 1 st in reverse stockinette st, 36 sts following row 1 of the chart (4 pattern repeats), 1 st in reverse stockinette st and 1 st in garter st (edge st). Keep working 1 st at both ends in garter st and 1 st in reverse stockinette st. Work rows 2-16 of the chart. 1 st increased at both ends on row 8, 48 sts now on the needles.
Keep working the edge sts in garter st. With all other sts work 3 rows in ribbing.
Loosely bind off in pattern.
Finishing
Sew the top and bottom corners together with a few stitches.
Attach the button at the midpoint of one of the ends. Crochet chain stitches for the buttonhole loop. Attach it to the other end.
Steam and shape. Weave in the ends.
