Stitch patterns Ribbing: Row 1: slip 1 (edge st), *k1, p1*, repeat *–* to last 2 sts, k2. Row 2: slip 1 (edge st), *p1, k1*, repeat *–* to last st, k1. Keep repeating rows 1–2. Brioche: Row 1: slip 1 (edge st), *k1, sl1yo*, repeat *–* to last 2 sts, k2. Row 2: slip 1 (edge st), sl1yo, *brk (= knit together the yo and knit st), sl1yo*, repeat *–* to last st, k1. Row 3: slip 1 (edge st), brk, *sl1yo, brk*, repeat *–* to last st, k1. Keep repeating rows 2–3. Gauge 16 sts in brioche = 10 cm / 4 in
Cast on 65 sts and work ribbing as instructed. Work for approx. 5 cm and finish with row 2. Then work brioche as instructed. Begin on row 1 and then keep repeating rows 2–3.
When the scarf measures 185 cm and you have last worked row 2 in the brioche pattern, work as follows: slip 1 (edge st), *p1, brk*, repeat *–* to last st, k1. Then keep repeating rows 1–2 of the ribbing pattern.
When the ribbing measures approx. 5 cm, bind off in pattern.
Finishing
Lightly steam the scarf.
