Novita Essentials: Myrna Wrap
This wonderful shawl wrap with sleeves is an elegant but practical accessory which you can use to replace a jacket or sweater when going for a festive look. The Myrna wrap is knitted with the fluffy Novita Hehku yarn which really brings out the stunning lace pattern. The luxuriously soft mohair blend yarn goes splendidly with festive garments and won’t look out of place at weddings either. If you want an even more festive look, choose the sequined Loisto yarn, also used for the Myrna scarf.

Stitch patterns Lace pattern (flat): follow the chart and instructions.Ribbing in the round: *k2, p2*, repeat *–*.

Construction The wrap is knitted flat starting from the centre and proceeding towards both ends. The sleeves are knitted in the round.
Directions
Using the Turkish cast-on and the long circular needle, cast on 61 sts on both needles: hold both ends of the circular needle in your right hand with the needles pointing left. Make a slipknot and place it on the top needle.Twist the yarn counterclockwise 61 times around both needles. Each round will create 2 sts, one for the top needle and one for the bottom needle. Holding on to the yarn, turn the needles 180 degrees and grab them with your left hand.Draw out the bottom needle. Work across the top needle (= needle I) following row 1 of the chart: work 3 sts from the right end, repeat the 14 st pattern 3 times, work the 16 sts at the left end. The cable is now looped on both sides of the work. Pull the bottom sts back onto the needle. Turn the needles 180 degrees and draw out the bottom needle. Holding on to the yarn, drop the slipknot off the needle and let it unravel. Work across the top needle (= needle II) following row 1 of the chart.
Leave the sts of needle II on hold on a holder or a piece of scrap yarn and proceed with the 61 sts of needle I.Work row 2 (RS).Turn work and keep working flat.Work rows 3–25, then keep repeating rows 4–25.When the piece measures 90(96)102(108)114(120)126 cm / 35.5(37.75)40.25(42.5)45(47.25)49.5 in and you have last worked a WS row, leave the sts on hold and work the other end of the wrap.
Place the sts of needle II back onto the needles. Beginning with a RS row, work rows 2–25 of the chart, then keep repeating rows 4–25.When the piece measures 90(96)102(108)114(120)126 cm / 35.5(37.75)40.25(42.5)45(47.25)49.5 in from the centre and you are on the same row as at the other end, try it on.Twist the wrap around your body so that the ends cross each other in the front and reach your elbows, allowing for some ease.If needed, make the wrap a bit longer, adding the same number of rows at both ends.
Sleeves
Proceed with one end of the piece.Knit 1 round, evenly decreasing 21(21)17(17)17(13)13 sts.40(40)44(44)44(48)48 sts on the needles.Divide the sts across four double-pointed needles, 10(10)11(11)11(12)12 sts each.
Work ribbing in the round for 35 cm / 13.75 in or until the ribbing reaches from the crook of your elbow to your wrist.Bind off in ribbing.
Knit the other sleeve in the same manner.
Finishing
Weave in ends.Lay flat with wrong side up.Mist and allow to dry.Pass the velvet ribbon through one end of the wrap, under every second gap and over every second gap. Shape the edge so that the ribbon makes it about 15 cm / 6 in shorter. Leave an extra 10 cm / 4 in at both ends and pass the ends through the same holes in the other direction so that the ends are folded double. If needed, steam again.
