Back

Cast on 104 (116) 126 (138) 150 sts and work 2 cm in rib.

Start working in double moss stitch and follow chart I from row 1. Repeat the 2 stitch pattern to end. Keep repeating rows 1-4.

When the piece measures 50 (51) 52 (53) 54 cm, start shaping the armholes:

Cast off 5 (5) 6 (6) 6 sts at the beginning of next 2 rows and 1 st at the beginning of next 10 (10) 12 (12) 12 rows = 84 (96) 102 (114) 126 sts.

When the armhole measures 17 (18) 19 (20) 21 cm, on the next RS row cast off centre 36 (36) 36 (38) 38 sts for back neck and work to end. Work each side of the neck separately and shape the first side in the following way:

Next row (WS): Work to end.

Next row (RS, starting at neck edge): Cast off 2 sts, work to end.

Next row: Work to end.

Next row: Cast off 1 st, work to end.

Continue working straight until the armhole measures 19 (20) 21 (22) 23 cm. Cast off 21 (27) 30 (35) 41 sts for shoulder.

Work the other side to match, reversing the shapings.

Front

Cast on 109 (121) 133 (145) 157 sts and start working in rib stitch on the WS of the work by working first p1. Work 2 cm in rib stitch.

Start working in textured stitch pattern by following chart I from row 5: work the first 6 sts, repeat the 12 stitch pattern for 8 (9) 10 (11) 12 times and work the last 7 sts. Repeat rows 5-16 of chart I for 5 (5) 5 (6) 6 times. Work rows 5-10 once. After that, work 2 rows in reverse st st.

Continue working in textured stitch pattern. Start from row 17 of chart I at the point indicated for each size by an arrow. Repeat the 8 stitch pattern for 13 (15) 16 (18) 19 times and work the last 2 (0) 2 (0) 2 sts of the chart. Repeat rows 17-22 until the piece measures about 37 (38) 40 (41) 42 cm and you have just finished row 22.

Work 2 rows in reverse st st and at the same time decrease 1 st on the first row = 108 (120) 132 (144) 156 sts.

Continue working in textured stitch pattern. Start from row 23 of chart I and repeat the 12 stitch pattern for 9 (10) 11 (12) 13 times. Keep repeating rows 23-26.

When the piece measures 50 (51) 52 (53) 54 cm, start shaping the armholes:

Cast off 6 (6) 7 (7) 7 sts at the beginning of next 2 rows and 1 st at the beginning of next 10 (10) 12 (12) 12 rows = 86 (98) 106 (118) 130 sts.

Note When you have repeated rows 23-26 for about 16 (16) 17 (17) 18 cm and you have just finished row 26, work 2 rows in reverse st st and decrease evenly 2 (2) 4 (4) 4 sts on the first row = 84 (96) 102 (114) 126 sts.

Change to double moss stitch starting from row 1 of chart I and repeat the two stitch pattern to end. Keep repeating rows 1-4.

When the armhole measures 10 (11) 12 (13) 14 cm, on the next RS row work to the 30 (30) 30 (32) 32 centre sts, place them on a holder or waste yarn for front neck and work to end. Then, work each side of the neck separately:

Next row (WS): Work to end.

Next row (RS, starting at neck egde): Cast off 2 sts, work to end.

Next row: Work to end.

Next row: Cast off 2 sts, work to end.

Next row: Work to end.

Next row: Cast off 1 st, work to end.

Next row: Work to end.

Next row: Cast off 1 st, work to end.

Continue working straight and when the armhole measures 19 (20) 21 (22) 23 cm, cast off 21 (27) 30 (35) 41 sts for shoulder.

Work the other side to match, reversing the shapings.

Sleeves

(make 2)

Cast on 51 (53) 55 (55) 57 sts and work 2 cm in rib.

Start working in double moss stitch pattern and in lace in the following way: work 19 (20) 21 (21) 23 sts in double moss stitch starting from row 1 of chart I, work the 13 stitch lace stitch pattern once starting row 1 of chart II and finally, work 19 (20) 21 (21) 23 sts in double moss stitch. For working in double moss stitch repeat rows 1-4 of chart I and for lace repeat rows 1-12 of chart II.

When the piece measures 10 (10) 7 (15) 14 cm, increase 1 st at both ends of the next row. Keeping the double moss stitch pattern correct, repeat these increases every 2.5 (2) 2 (1.5) 1.5 cm for 14 (18) 20 (22) 23 times more = 81 (91) 97 (101) 105 sts.

When the piece measures 47 (48) 49 (49) 50 cm, start shaping the sleeve top:

Cast off 6 (6) 7 (7) 7 sts at the beginning of next 2 rows and 1 st at the beginning of next 10 (10) 12 (12) 12 rows. Cast off all sts.

Finishing

Lay pieces to measures on a flat surface with the WS facing, wet with a spray bottle and let dry.

Join shoulder seams.

Neck edge: Starting from either shoulder seam and using circular needle, pick up and knit sts along both sides of the neck and sts on hold so that you have 106 (106) 108 (108) 110 sts on the needle. Work 6 cm in rib stitch in the round. Cast off all sts. Fold the rib in half on the WS of the work and sew in place.

Sew sleeves in place matching the red points marked in the drawing. Join sleeve and side seams.
