Stitch patterns:
- Textured pattern and cable pattern:
work following the charts and the written instructions.
- Stockinette stitch:
Right side rows: knit all sts.
Wrong side rows: purl all sts.
Gauge:
20 sts of the textured and cable patterns = 10 cm / 4 in
Back
The cardigan has a back slit, so the back hem is knitted in two pieces.
Cast on 59(63)67 sts for the right-side piece and begin the texture and cable patterns on the WS from row 1 of chart I: work section A from the left edge of the chart (= 8 sts), section B (= 23 sts), section C (= 11 sts), section D (= 14 sts) and 3(7)11 sts at right edge. Keep repeating rows 2-9 at section A, rows 2-29 at section B, rows 2-7 at section C, rows 2-15 at section D, and rows 2-9 at the right edge.
When the piece measures approx. 25 cm, bind off the first 8 sts of a WS row for the top of the slit and work to end of row. Do not break the yarn. Leave the remaining 51(55)59 sts on hold on e.g. a piece of yarn.
Cast on 59(63)67 sts for the left-side piece and begin the texture and cable patterns on the WS from row 1 of chart II. The starting point for each size is marked with an arrow on the bottom of the chart. Work 3(7)11 sts from the left edge of the chart, section D (= 14 sts), section C (= 11 sts), section B (= 23 sts), and section A (= 8 sts). Keep repeating rows 2-9 at the left edge, rows 2-15 at section D, rows 2-7 at section C, rows 2-29 at section B, and rows 2-9 at section A.
When the piece measures approx. 25 cm and you have last worked the same WS row you worked last on the right-side piece, move the two pieces onto the same needle.
First work the sts of the right piece and then the sts of the left piece (the slit bind-off on the right piece will wait on the WS).110(118)126 sts on the needles. Continue working the patterns with all the sts.
When the piece measures 77(78)79 cm, bind off 1x7(11)10 sts at both ends for the armholes = 96(96)106 sts.
When the armhole measures 20(21)22 cm, on every other row bind off 7x3(3)4 sts and 1x13(13)11 sts for the shoulder. Securely bind off the remaining 28 sts for the neckline.
Right front
Cast on 59(63)67 sts and begin the texture and cable patterns on the WS from row 1 of chart I: work section A from the left edge of the chart (= 8 sts), section B (= 23 sts), section C (= 11 sts), section D (= 14 sts), and 3(7)11 sts at right edge. Keep repeating rows 2-9 at section A, rows 2-29 at section B, rows 2-7 at section C, rows 2-15 at section D, and rows 2-9 at the right edge.
When the piece measures 77(78)79 cm, bind off 1x7(11)10 sts at the right end for the armhole = 52(52)57 sts.
When the armhole measures 2 cm, begin neckline decreases: work a RS row until 3 sts remain at the left end, k2tog, k1. Keep working 2 sts at the left end in stockinette st and repeat the decreases on every 2nd row 17 more times.
Note: Start the shoulder decreases at the same place you did on the back piece. On every 2nd row, bind off 7x3(3)4 sts and 1x13(13)11 sts.

When the armhole measures 2 cm, begin neckline decreases: on a RS row, k1, work the skp decrease (= slip 1 knitwise, k1, pass the slipped st over), work to end. Keep working 2 sts at the right end in stockinette st and repeat the decreases on every 2nd row 17 more times.
Note: Start the shoulder decreases at the same place you did on the back piece. On every 2nd row, bind off 7x3(3)4 sts and 1x13(13)11 sts.
Sleeves
Cast on 50(50)54 sts and begin the texture and cable patterns on the WS from row 1 of chart III. The starting point for each size is marked with an arrow on the bottom of the chart. Work 7(7)9 sts from the left edge of the chart, section A (= 11 sts), section B (= 14 sts), section C (= 11 sts), and 7(7)9 sts from the right edge. Keep repeating rows 2-9 at both ends, rows 2-7 at sections A and C, and rows 2-15 at section B.
When the piece measures 8(7)8 cm, increase 1 st at both ends. Repeat the increases every 3,5(3)3 cm 7(9)9 more times = 66(70)74 sts.
When the piece measures approx. 40(43)44 cm, bind off.
Knit the other sleeve to match.
Pockets
Cast on 40 sts and begin the cable pattern on the WS from row 1 of chart IV. Work the 8 st pattern repeat 5 times. Work rows 2-8 of the chart and then keep repeating rows 1-8.
When the piece measures approx. 20 cm and you have last worked either row 3 or row 7, bind off.
Knit the other pocket to match.
Finishing
Pin the pieces to measurements, mist on the wrong side and allow to dry.
Sew the shoulder seams.
Attach the sleeves following the markings on the pattern. Sew the side seams and sleeve seams.
Attach the pockets approx. 26(28)28 cm from the armhole down, with one side of the pocket at the side seam.
