WS: work in rib: P2,*K2,P2, rep from* to end. Work in rib for 5 rows. Cont in stocking st for 4 rows. Beg working stripes as folls:

RS: Row1: * using red yarn purl.

WS: Row2: using red yarn purl.

Rows 3-10: using off-white yarn work in stocking st., rep from * AT THE SAME TIME when back meas 24[25:25:26:26] cm dec 1 st at each end. Rep dec after 10 cm = 82[90:98:106:114] sts. Work until back meas 46[47:48:49:50] cm. End with row 2. Beg and ending rows as indicated, cont in patt from chart I. as folls:

Row 1: middle stitch is marked in chart with an arrow, count from there your starting st. Cont in patt and work rows 1-17. Cont in patt from chart II.

Row 18: middle stitch is marked in chart with an arrow, count from there your starting st. Cont in pat and rep rows 18-21. Work until back meas 57[58:59:60:61] cm.

Shape Armholes

Cast off 5[5:5:6:6] sts at beg of next 2 rows, 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows, 2 sts at beg of next 0[0:2:4:4] rows. Dec 1 st at each end of foll alt rows 2(3)2(3)4 times = 62[68:74:74:80] sts. Work until armhole meas 17[18:19:20:21] cm.

Shape Shoulders and Back Neck

Cast off 28 sts in the middle of back for neck and work to end. Leave right side sts on a holder. Work each side of neck separately. Work 2 rows. Cast off 2 sts at neck edge. Work until armhole meas 19[20:21:22:23] cm. Cast off rem 15[18:21:21:24] sts. Rejoin yarn to sts on holder and work to end. Complete to match first side, reversing shapings.

Front

Work as back. Start front neck shaping when armhole meas 11[12:13:14:15] cm.

Shape Front Neck

Put 22 sts in the middle of front for neck on a holder. Work each side of neck separately. Cast off at neck edge every alt row 2 sts twice. Dec 1 st at neck edge every alt row once. Work until armhole meas 19[20:21:22:23] cm. Cast off rem 15[18:21:21:24] sts. Rejoin yarn to sts on holder (left end) and patt to end. Complete to match first side, reversing shapings.

Sleeves

Using off-white yarn cast on 44[46:48:50:52] sts.

WS: work in rib: P2,*K2,P2, rep from* to end. Work in rib for 5 rows. Cont in stocking st for 4 rows. Beg working stripes as folls:

RS: Row1: * using red yarn purl.

WS: Row2: using red yarn purl.

Rows 3-10: using off-white yarn work in stocking st., rep from * AT THE SAME TIME when sleeve meas 5 cm inc 1 st at each end. Rep inc every 10th row 8(9)7(3)0 times and every 8th row 0(0)3(8)12 times = 62[66:70:74:78] sts. Work until sleeve meas 45[46:47:47:48] cm.

Shape Top

Cast off 5[5:5:6:6] sts at beg of next 2 rows. Cast off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 2[4:4:4:4] rows. Dec 1 st at each end of next and every foll alt row 8(8)9(11)12 times. Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Cast off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Cast off rem sts.

Making Up

Flatten the pieces to the desired dimensions on an even surface, wrong side up. Wet with water spray, and allow to dry. Join both shoulder seams.

Collar

Using 40cm circular needle and off-white yarn rejoin yarn to 22 sts from a holder, pick up and knit 86 sts evenly from neck edge = 108 sts. Work in rib in round for 20 cm. Cast off sts loosely in rib.

Join side seams and sleeve seams using back stitch or matress stitch if preferred. Set in sleeves.
