Shape Armholes

Cast off 4[4:5:5:6:6] sts at beg of next 2 rows, 3 sts at beg of next 0[0:2:2:2:2] rows, 2 sts at beg of next 4[4:4:4:6:6] rows. Dec 1 st at each end of foll alt rows 2(3)2(3)2(4) times = 57[63:65:71:75:81] sts. Work until armhole meas 16[17:18:19:19:20] cm.

Shape Shoulders and Back Neck

Cast off 25[25:25:27:27:27] sts in the middle of back for neck and work to end. Leave right side sts on a holder. Work each side of neck separately. Cast off 2 sts at neck edge every alt row once, 1 st once. Work until armhole meas 18[19:20:21:22:23] cm. Cast off rem 13[16:17:19:21:24] sts. Rejoin yarn to sts on holder and work to end. Complete to match first side, reversing shapings.

Front

Cast on 94[102:110:118:128:138] sts. Work in rib 2 cm. Beg and ending rows as indicated, cont in patt from chart as folls:

RS: Row 1: work 18[22:26:30:35:40] sts in stocking st, work 58 st patt from chart, work 18[22:26:30:35:40] sts in stocking st. Work rows 1-12 in chart, rep then rows 13-52. Shape Armholes

Shape Front Neck

Put 22[22:22:24:26:26] sts in the middle of front for neck on a holder. Work each side of neck separately. Cast off 3 sts at neck edge every alt row once, 2 sts twice. Dec 1 st at neck edge once. Work until armhole meas 18[19:20:21:22:23] cm. Cast off rem 13[16:17:19:21:24] sts. Rejoin yarn to sts on holder (left end) and patt to end. Complete to match first side, reversing shapings.

Sleeves

Cast on 46[48:50:50:52:52] sts. Work in rib 5 cm. Cont in stocking st. Work until sleeve meas

11[11:11:8:10:10] cm. Inc 1 st at each end. Repeat increases in 5,5[5:4,5:4:3,5:3] cm intervals 5(6)7(9)10(12) times = 58[62:66:70:74:78] sts. Work until sleeve meas 45[46:47:48:48:49] cm.

Shape top

Cast off 4[4:5:5:6:6] sts at beg of next 2 rows. Cast off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 2[4:4:4:4:4] rows. Dec 1 st at each end of next and every foll alt row 9(9)10(11)12(14) times. Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Cast off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Cast off rem sts.

Making Up

Flatten the pieces to the desired dimensions on an even surface, wrong side up. Wet with water spray, and allow to dry. Join both shoulder seams.

Collar

Using 40cm circular needle rejoin yarn to 22[22:22:24:26:26] sts from a holder, pick up and knit 76[76:76:78:80:80]sts evenly from neck edge =98[98:98:102:102:102] sts. Work in rib in round for 18[18:18:20:20:20] cm. Cast off sts in rib.

Join side seams and sleeve seams using back stitch or matress stitch if preferred. Set in sleeves.
