Stitch pattern

Stocking stitch: knit on RS, purl on WS.

Garter stitch: knit every row.

Tension

20 sts and 25 rows to 10 cm measured over stocking st

granny square: 12 x 12 cm

First Square

(see chart)

Using off-white yarn:

Start rnd: Ch 6, close the rnd with sc into the first ch.

Rnd 1: Ch3 (=equals to tr1), tr2, * ch3,tr3, rep from * twice, ch3. Change to black yarn and close the rnd with sc into the 3rd ch from the beg of the rnd. This rnd consists of 4 tr-groups.

Rnd 2: Ch4, * tr3, ch3, tr3, ch1, rep from * twice, tr3, ch3, tr2. Change to midgrey yarn and close the rnd with sc as before.

Rnd 3: Ch3, tr2, ch1, * tr3, ch3, tr3, ch1, tr3, ch1, rep from * twice, tr3, ch3, tr3, ch1. Change to off-white yarn and close the rnd with sc as before.

Rnd 4: Cont working as indicated in chart using off-white yarn.

Rnd 5: Cont working as indicated in chart using black yarn.

Second Square

Work as first square using colors as folls:

Rnd 1: black

Rnd 2: midgrey

Rnd 3: off-white

Rnd 4: midgrey

Rnd 5: black

Third Square

Work as first square using colors as folls:

Rnd 1: midgrey

Rnd 2: off-white

Rnd 3: black

Rnd 4: off-white

Rnd 5: black

Lower Skirt

Work 40[45:50:55] squares as folls: 13[15:17:18] pieces of first square, 14[15:16:18] pieces of second square and 13[15:17:19] pieces of third square.

Lightly steam the squares. Join the squares according to pattern with sc (single crochet) as folls: Using black yarn, hold two squares right sides together and sc2tog 1 st of first and 1 st of second square, rep to end. You can also join the squares using back stitch or matress stitch if preferred.

Upper Skirt

RS: Using 60cm circular needle rejoin black yarn to upper edge of the skirt and pick up and knit 176[192:212:232] sts.

WS: Knit.

Cont in stocking st and work 3 sts at both ends in garter st. Work until the knitted part meas 6[7:8:9] cm. Divide the skirt into 3 parts as folls:

RS:knit 42[45:50:54] sts for right front, cast off 8[10:10:12] sts for armhole, knit 76[82:92:100] sts for back, cast off 8[10:10:12] sts for armhole, knit 42[45:50:54] sts for left front. Leave sts for right and left front on holders.

Upper Back

Cont working 76[82:92:100] sts for back and AT THE SAME TIME shape armholesas folls:

Cast off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows, 2sts at beg of next 0[0:2:2] rows. Dec 1 st at each end of foll alt rows 1(2)2(3) times = 68[72:78:84] sts. Work until armhole meas 17[18:19:20] cm.

Shape Shoulders and Back Neck

Cast off 28[28:30:30] sts in the middle of back for neck and work to end. Leave right side sts on a holder. Work each side of neck separately. Cast off 2 sts at neck edge. Work until armhole meas 19[20:21:22]cm. Cast off rem 18[20:22:25] sts. Rejoin yarn to sts on holder and work to end. Complete to match first side, reversing shapings.

Upper Right Front

Cont working 42[45:50:54] sts for right front and AT THE SAME TIME shape armholes as folls:

Cast off at left end every alt row 3 sts once, 2sts 0(0)1(1) times. Dec 1 st at left end of foll alt rows 1(2)2(3) times = 38[40:43:46] sts. Work until armhole meas 9[10:11:12] cm.

Shape Shoulder and Front Neck

Put 13[13:14:14] sts at right end on a holder. Cast off at right end every alt row 3 sts once, 2 sts once, 1 st twice. Work until armhole meas 19[20:21:22]cm. Cast off rem 18[20:22:25] sts.

Upper Left Front

Work as upper right front reversing all shapings.

Sleeves

Work 6 squares as folls: 2 pieces of first square, 2 pieces of second square and 2 pieces of third square. Lightly steam the squares. Join the squares according to pattern with sc (single crochet) as folls: Using black yarn, hold two squares right sides together and sc2tog 1 st of first and 1 st of second square, rep to end. You can also join the squares using back stitch or matress stitch if preferred.

Using black yarn crochet wedges as folls: attatch the yarn with 1 sc to left edge upper corner: ch1[1:4:4], size S and M: dc63, size L and XL: dtr63, turn.

Next row: sc21, dc10, htr10, tr10, dtr12, turn.

Next row: ch4, dtr14, tr10, htr10, dc10, sc3. Break off the yarn. Repeat for other sleeve.

RS:Using 60cm circular needle rejoin black yarn to upper edge of the sleeve and pick up and knit 60[62:66:70] sts.

WS:Knit.

Cont in stocking st and work 3 sts at both ends in garter st. Work until the knitted part meas 5[4:4:4] cm. Inc 1 st at each end. Repeat increases in 0[4:4:5] cm interval once = 62[66:70:74] sts. Work until sleeve meas 47[48:49:50] cm.

Shape Top

Cast off 4[5:5:6] sts at beg of next 2 rows. Cast off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 4 rows. Dec 1 st at each end of next and every foll alt row 8(9)10(12) times. Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Cast off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Cast off rem sts.

To Make Up

Flatten the pieces to the desired dimensions on an even surface, wrong side up. Wet with water spray, and allow to dry. Join both shoulder seams. Join side seams and sleeve seams using back stitch or matress stitch if preferred. Set in sleeves.

Neckline Edge

Using 60cm circular needle rejoin yarn to 13[13:14:14] sts from a holder, pick up and knit 98[100:101:101]sts evenly from neck edge =111[113:115:115] sts. Work in garter st 4 rows. Cast off sts knitwise.

Using black yarn crochet 1 row of dc on front edges and hem.
