Garter stitch
All rows: K to end.
Tension
9.5 sts over garter stitch using larger needles and yarn doubled = 10 cm
First, cut yarn for fringe tassels. There will be 11 fringe tassels at each end of the scarf. For one tassel cut 5 lengths of yarn of about 45 cm each; for one scarf you will need altogether 110 strands of yarn.
Pockets: With 1 strand of yarn and smaller needles cast on 26 sts. Start working in g-st. When the piece measures 17 cm, cast off loosely to prevent the cast-off edge being too tight. Repeat for another pocket.
Scarf: With two strands of yarn and larger needles cast on 33 sts. Work in g-st until the piece measures about 184 cm and you have still enough yarn to cast off the sts. Cast off all sts.
Finishing
Steam block the scarf using an iron. Keep the temperature at the lowest possible setting to enable the use of the steam setting. Keep the iron just above the fabric, do not press the piece.
Attach the fringe tassels at both ends of the scarf. Keeping 5 strands together fold them in half, pull the folded end through the edge, pull the loose ends through the folded end and tighten up. Attach 11 tassels at each end of the scarf.
Using a large darning needle sew the pockets in place at each end of the scarf about 10 cm from the end. Make sure that the stitches are not too tight to dent the edges. Weave in ends inside the pocket.
