Yoke

Using the smaller circular needle (40 cm), cast on 120(128)126(126)130(130) sts for the neckline. Begin twisted ribbing in the round with k1. Work ribbing for 4 cm.

Switch to the larger circular needle (40 cm) and begin the textured pattern on row 1 of chart I(II)III(III)IV(IV). Work the pattern repeat 4(8)9(9)5(5) times. Size S: work row 2 of chart I. Sizes M(L)XL(XXL)3XL: work rows 2–4 of chart II(III)III(IV)IV. 6(2)4(4)10(10) sts increased in each pattern repeat, 144(144)162(162)180(180) sts now on the needles.

Now work row 5 of chart V. Work the pattern repeat 8(8)9(9)10(10) times. Work rows 6–74 of the chart. Note: Switch to the longer circular needle when you need to.

23 sts increased in each pattern repeat, 328(328)369(369)410(410) sts on the needles.

Now turn the work inside out and work stockinette st (the right side of the sweater is now on the inside). Work stockinette st for 0(0)0(2)2(4) rounds. On the second round, increase 0(0)1(1)2(2) sts = 328(328)370(370)412(412) sts.

Next round: work the first 48(49)56(56)63(65) sts (half of the back), leave 67(65)73(72)79(76) sleeve sts on hold, cast on 9(15)11(19)18(28) sts for armhole, work 97(99)112(113)127(130) front sts, leave 67(65)73(72)79(76) sleeve sts on hold, cast on 9(15)11(19)18(28) sts for armhole, work the remaining 49(50)56(57)64(65) back sts. 212(228)246(264)290(316) sts on the needles.

On the next round, work 48(49)56(56)63(65) back sts and 4(7)5(9)9(14) armhole sts. The beginning of round is now here, at the side.

Body

With the 212(228)246(264)290(316) front and back sts, work stockinette st.

When the body measures 31(32)34(35)38(40) cm from the armhole, turn the work inside out again and switch to the smaller needles. Work twisted ribbing in the round for 6 cm. Bind off in pattern.

Sleeves

Using the double-pointed needles and with RS facing, pick up and knit 4(7)5(9)9(13) sts from the armhole cast-on (begin at the midpoint), work the 67(65)73(72)79(76) sleeve sts, pick up and knit 4(7)6(9)9(13) sts from the armhole = 75(79)84(90)97(102) sts.

Turn the work inside out, place marker for beginning of round and work stockinette st in the round.

When the sleeve measures 4 cm, decrease 0(0)0(1)1(1) st on both sides of the beginning of round: k1, k2tog, work to last 3 sts, work 2 sts together, k1. Repeat the decreases every 0(0)0(8)6(4) cm 0(0)0(1)2(3) more time(s) = 75(79)84(86)91(94) sts.

When the sleeve measures 35(36)37(38)38(39) cm, on the next round evenly decrease 27(31)34(34)37(38) sts = 48(48)50(52)54(56) sts.

Turn the work inside out again and switch to the smaller needles. Work twisted ribbing in the round for 6 cm. Bind off in pattern.

Knit the other sleeve in the same manner.
