Novita Isoveli: Pähkinänsärkijä (Nutcracker) sweater

Back Using the smaller needles, cast on 74(82)86(90)98(102) sts and begin ribbing: p2, *k2, p2*, repeat *–* to end of row. When the piece measures 3 cm, switch to the larger needles and work stockinette st. When the piece measures approx. 26(27)28(29)32(34) cm, place markers for armholes at both ends. Work for 22(23)24(25)25(26) cm after the armhole markers. Then on every other row bind off at both ends: 3x4 sts and 4x3 sts (7x4 sts) 2x5 sts and 5x4 sts (3x5 sts and 4x4 sts) 7x5 sts (2x6 sts and 5x5 sts). Leave the remaining 26(26)26(28)28(28) sts on hold for the neckline. Front Work like back until the piece measures 21(22)23(24)24(25) cm from the armhole markers. Mark the middle 18(18)18(20)20(20) sts for neckline. Work next RS row until 3 sts remain before marked sts. K2tog, k1, knit the 18(18)18(20)20(20) neckline sts and leave the 18(18)18(20)20(20) sts on hold. K1, skp (= slip 1 knitwise, k1, pass slipped st over), work to end of row. Work the left side of the neckline first. On every other row decrease 3x1 st at both ends: (RS) k1, skp, work to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1. 54(58)60(62)62(66) sts now on the needles. Repeat the decreases every 7(5)5(4.5)5(4) cm 3(5)5(6)5(7) more times = 48(48)50(50)52(52) sts. When the sleeve measures 32(33)34(35)35(36) cm, switch to the smaller needles and work ribbing. On the first row evenly decrease 2(2)0(0)2(2) sts = 46(46)50(50)50(50) sts. When the ribbing measures 13 cm, bind off in pattern. Knit the other sleeve in the same manner. Collar Place the 26(26)26(28)28(28) back neckline sts onto the circular needle (40 cm).
