Yoke
Using the smaller circular needle (40 cm) and the Graphite yarn, cast on 68(70)72(74)76(78) sts, place marker for beginning of round and work ribbing in the round for 8 cm.
Switch to the larger needles. Knit 1 round, evenly increasing 22(23)30(34)38(42) sts = 90(93)102(108)114(120) sts.
Begin the colourwork pattern on row 1 of chart I. Repeat the 3 st pattern 30(31)34(36)38(40) times.
Work rows 2–25 of the chart; sizes XS(S)M: skip row 6. On rows 4, 8, 15 and 25, 1 st increased in each pattern repeat. 210(217)238(252)266(280) sts on the needles.
Note: Switch to the longer circular needle when you need to.
Work rows 26–48; size XS: skip rows 33 and 47. On row 32, 1 st increased in each pattern repeat. 240(248)272(288)304(320) sts on the needles.
After row 48, work stockinette st using Graphite for 2 rounds.
Resume the colourwork pattern on row 1 of chart II. Repeat the 4 st pattern 60(62)68(72)76(80) times. Work rows 2–8, then keep repeating rows 1–8.
Note: When the yoke measures 20(21)21(22)22(23) cm from the ribbing, separate the sleeves: 71(74)83(88)94(99) back sts + 49(50)53(56)58(61) sleeve sts + 71(74)83(88)94(99) front sts + 49(50)53(56)58(61) sleeve sts.
Body
Keep working the colourwork pattern and work the 71(74)83(88)94(99) back sts, cast on 9(12)11(13)14(16) sts for armhole, work 71(74)83(88)94(99) front sts, cast on 9(12)11(13)14(16) sts for armhole = 160(172)188(202)216(230) sts. Keep working the colourwork pattern in the round.
When the body measures approx. 31(32)34(35)37(38) cm from the armhole and you have last worked either row 2 or row 6 of chart II, work 1 round and evenly decrease 4(4)2(4)0(2) sts = 156(168)186(198)216(228) sts.
Resume the colourwork pattern on row 1 of chart III. Repeat the 6 st pattern 26(28)31(33)36(38) times. Work rows 2–9 of the chart.
Using Graphite, work stockinette st for 2 rounds, then switch to the smaller needles and work ribbing in the round for 5 cm. Loosely bind off in pattern.
Sleeves
Use either the double-pointed needles or the circular needles and the Magic Loop technique.
Work the 49(50)53(56)58(61) sleeve sts following the colourwork pattern and pick up 7(10)11(12)14(15) additional sts from the armhole cast-on = 56(60)64(68)72(76) sts.
Keep working the colourwork pattern in the round. The beginning of round is at the midpoint of the armhole cast-on.
When the sleeve measures 3(3)2(1)1(2) cm from the armhole, decrease 1 st on both sides of the beginning of round: k1, k2tog, work to last 3 sts, skp (slip 1 knitwise, k1, pass the slipped st over), k1. Repeat the decreases every 3.5(3)3.5(3)3(2.5) cm 8(10)10(12)12(14) more times = 38(38)42(42)46(46) sts. After 2 cm, decrease 1 st = 37(37)41(41)45(45) sts.
When the sleeve measures approx. 37(38)39(39)40(41) cm from the armhole and you have last worked either row 3 or row 7 of chart II, begin the colourwork pattern on row 1 of chart III. The midpoint of the sleeve is marked at the bottom of the chart, use that to determine the starting point. Keep repeating the 6 st pattern to end of round. Work rows 2–9.
Using Graphite, work stockinette st for 2 rounds, then switch to the smaller needles and work ribbing in the round for 5 cm. Bind off in pattern.
Knit the other sleeve in the same manner.
Finishing
Pin to measurements wrong side up, mist and allow to dry, or steam lightly.
