Yoke
Using Peony and the smaller circular needle (40 cm), cast on 74(80)84(84) sts and work ribbing in the round for 3 cm. Place marker for beginning of round.
Switch to the larger needles and work stockinette st in the round for 1(2)3(4) round(s).
Keep working stockinette st and begin increases on the next round: k2(0)4(0), *increase 1 (knit the strand of yarn between the sts through the back loop), k4(4)4(3)*. Repeat *–* to end of round. 18(20)20(28) sts increased, 92(100)104(112) sts now on the needles. Knit 1 round.
Begin the colourwork pattern on row 1 of chart I. Repeat the 4 st pattern 23(25)26(28) times. Work rows 2–3 of the chart.
Work row 4 and increase 46(50)52(56) sts following the chart: *work 2 sts, increase, work 1 st, increase, work 1 st*, repeat *–* to end of round. 138(150)156(168) sts on the needles.
Work rows 5–6 of the chart. The 6 st pattern is repeated 23(25)26(28) times on each round.
Work row 7 and increase 23(25)26(28) sts following the chart: *work 4 sts, increase, work 2 sts*, repeat *–* to end of round. 161(175)182(196) sts on the needles.
Work row 8 of the chart. The 7 st pattern is repeated 23(25)26(28) times on each round.
Work row 9 and increase 23(25)26(28) sts following the chart: *work 1 st, increase, work 6 sts*, repeat *–* to end of round. 184(200)208(224) sts on the needles.
Work rows 10–32 of the chart. The 8 st pattern is repeated 23(25)26(28) times on each round.
Using Peony, work stockinette st in the round.
Work until the yoke measures 15(16)17(18) cm (including the ribbing). Next round: work 54(58)60(64) back sts, leave next 38(42)44(48) sleeve sts on hold, cast on 8(8)10(10) sts for armhole, work 54(58)60(64) front sts, leave 38(42)44(48) sleeve sts on hold, cast on 8(8)10(10) sts for armhole.
Body
With the 124(132)140(148) sts, work stockinette st in the round until the piece measures 15(17)19(21) cm from the armhole (or 10 cm less than desired length). Begin the colourwork pattern on row 1 of chart II. The 4 st pattern is repeated 31(33)35(37) times. Work rows 2–14 of the chart.
Using Peony, work stockinette st for 1 round.
Switch to the smaller needles and work ribbing in the round for 5 cm. Bind off in pattern.
Sleeves
Place the 38(42)44(48) sleeve sts on the larger double-pointed needles and pick up and knit 8(8)10(10) additional sts from the armhole cast-on as well as 1 st from both sides to avoid gaps = 48(52)56(60) sts. Place marker for beginning of round at the midpoint of the picked-up sts.
Using Peony, work stockinette st in the round until the sleeve measures 2(2)3(1) cm from the armhole.
Begin decreases on both sides of the marker: at the end of round, k2tog through back loop; at the beginning of the next round, k2tog. Repeat the decreases every 2(2)2(2.5) cm. Work the decreases 8(10)10(10) times in total. 32(32)36(40) sts now on the needles.
When the sleeve measures 17(20)22(25) cm from the armhole (or 9 cm less than desired length), begin the colourwork pattern on row 1 of chart II. Repeat the 4 st pattern 8(8)9(10) times. Work rows 2–14 of the chart.
Using Peony, work stockinette st for 1 round.
Switch to the smaller needles and work ribbing in the round for 4 cm. Bind off in pattern.
Finishing
Wet block to measurements.
