Crochet pillow Novita 7 Veljestä, 7 Veljestä Korpi and Baby Merino
If you don't feel like making a million squares - make just two big ones. This pillowcase is made with log cabin technique, and a fun project at that.

- Work double crochet (dc) following the instructions.

16 dc = 10 cm / 4 in; height of one piece (9 rows) approx. 4,5 cm / 1¾ in
Note
Both sides of the pillow are worked using the log cabin technique. After the first two pieces, work each piece starting from the edges of the previous pieces. See layout diagram for direction of crochet.
Starting square
Begin with starting square (marked in red in the diagram). With Silver Willow held double, chain 9 (ch) and ch1 for turning. Turn work.
Row 1: 1 double crochet (dc) into 2nd ch from hook, 1 dc into each st on beginning chain = 9 dc. Turn work.
Row 2: ch1 for turning, 1 dc into each dc on previous row = 9 dc. Turn work.
Keep repeating row 2 until there are 10 rows in total. Break yarn.
Piece 2
Join Off White (one strand only) and work 9 rows of dc.
Do not break yarn.
Piece 3
Continue with Off White.
Row 1: 9 dc into left edge of previous piece, 9 dc into left edge of starting square = 18 dc. Turn work.
Rows 2-9: ch1 for turning, 1 dc into each dc on previous row = 18 dc. Turn work.
Keep repeating row 2 until there are 9 rows in total. Break yarn.
Piece 4
Join Berry Porridge.
Row 1: 9 dc into left edge of piece 3, 9 dc into bottom edge of starting square = 18 dc. Turn work.
Rows 2-9: ch1 for turning, 1 dc into each dc on previous row = 18 dc. Turn work.
Keep repeating row 2 until there are 9 rows in total. Do not break yarn.
Piece 5
Continue with Berry Porridge.
Row 1: 9 dc into left edge of piece 4, 9 dc into right edge of starting square, 9 dc into right edge of piece 2 = 27dc. Turn work.
Rows 2-9: ch1 for turning, 1 dc into each dc on previous row = 27 dc. Turn work.
Keep repeating row 2 until there are 9 rows in total. Break yarn.
Continue in this manner, following the diagram (see arrows for direction of crochet).
Piece 6: 27 dc and 9 rows using Sand.
Piece 7: 36 dc and 9 rows using Sand.
Piece 8: 36 dc and 9 rows using Log.
Piece 9: 45 dc and 9 rows using Log.
Piece 10: 45 dc and 9 rows using Wood Chip.
Piece 11: 54 dc and 9 rows using Wood Chip.
