Stitch patterns
- Ribbing in the round: *k1, p1*, repeat *-*.
- Lace pattern in the round: work following the chart and instructions.
Gauge
14 sts in lace pattern
Using the circular needle and Squirrel held double, cast on 72 sts and work ribbing in the round for 1 round. Break off both strands of yarn. Work ribbing with Sand held double.
When the ribbing measures 12 cm, begin the lace pattern on row 1 of the chart. Repeat the 8 st pattern 9 times. Work rows 2-6 of the chart.
Break off one of the Sand strands and join one strand of Icy Flower. Resume the lace pattern and work rows 7-16.
Break off the other Sand strand and join another strand of Icy Flower.
Resume the lace pattern and work rows 17-30. 2 sts decreased in each pattern repeat on rows 25, 27 and 29. 18 sts now on the needles.
Note: Switch to the double-pointed needles when needed.
Break off both strands of yarn and pull them through the sts. Close the hole and securely weave in.
Finishing
Steam the hat lightly. Fold the brim once. Make a pompom approx. 6 cm in diameter using Squirrel and attach it to the top.
