Tension

23 sts to 10 cm measured over stocking st

Leg

Using double-pointed needles cast on 53 sts loosely. Distribute sts over 4 of the 5 needles ( =14, 13, 13, 13 sts on each needle) and, taking care not to twist cast-on edge and using 5th needle, work in rounds as follows:

Purl 1 rnd. Beg and ending rnds as indicated, cont in patt from chart as folls:

Rnd 1: work as indicated in chart from A to B, from B to C twice, from C to D, from D to E to end. Rep rnds 1-2. Work until leg meas 20 cm.

Heel Flap and Gusset (french heel)

Work 14 sts of needle I. onto needle IV. =27 sts. Leave sts on needle II. and III.waiting. Work the 27 heel sts back and forth in rows as folls:

WS: sl1wyf (=with yarn in front), purl to end and AT THE SAME TIME dec 1 st = 26 sts. Turn.

RS: Row 1: * sl1wyb (=with yarn in back), K1, rep from * 12 times. Turn.

WS: Row 2: sl1wyf, purl to end. Turn.

RS: Row 3: sl1wyb, K2, * sl1wyb, K1, rep from * to last st, K1. Turn.

WS: Row 4: sl1wyf, purl to end. Turn.

Rep rows 1-4 until heel flap's height is 26 rows.

Turn Heel

Row 1: K15 (= half of heel's sts +2), K2togtbl (=through back loops), K1. Turn.

Row 2: sl1wyf, P5, P2tog, P1. Turn.

Row 3: sl1wyb, K6, K2togtbl, K1. Turn.

Row 4: sl1wyf, P7, P2tog, P1. Turn.

Cont dec as given until last dec on both ends on both RS and WS have been made. Divide heel sts onto needle I. and IV.

Needle I. : knit heel sts, pick up and knit 14 sts along left edge of heel flap

Needle II. and III.: cont in patt from chart,

Needle IV: pick up and knit 14 sts along right edge of heel flap, work to end.

Join for working in rnds. Work sts on needle I. and IV. in stocking st in round and sts on needle II. and III. in patt from chart.

Shape Gusset

Dec rnd 1: Needle I. : work until you have 2 sts left on needle I., K2tog

Needle II. and III.: cont in patt from chart

Needle IV: sl1, K1, psso, work to end.

Work 1 rnd.

Rep dec rnd every alt rnd until the amount of sts is 52.

Foot

Cont working until foot meas 20 cm or until foot covers your little toe.

Toe

Cont in patt on needle II. and III. After purled sts have been decreased from the top of the sock, rep rnds 3-10.

Rnd 1: Needle I. : work until you have 3 sts left on needle I., K2tog, K1

Needle II. : K1, sl1,K1,psso, patt to end of needle II.

Needle III.: patt until you have 3 sts left on needle III., K2tog, K1

Needle IV: K1, sl1,K1,psso, work to end of needle IV.

Work 1 rnd.

Rep rnd 1 every alt rnd until the amount of sts is 24.

Rep rnd 1 every rnd until the amount of sts is 8. Break yarn leaving a long end. Pull end through all sts and tighten it. Weave in all ends.
