TECHNIQUE: CASTING ON
TECHNIQUE: SSK AND SKP DECREASES
TECHNIQUE: FINISHING AND WEAVING IN
Cast on 100 sts and work stockinette st in the round for 48 cm.
On the next round place markers for decreasing: place 1st marker at the beginning of round, knit 25, place 2nd marker, knit 25, place 3rd marker, knit 25, place 4th marker, knit 25 and slip the 1st marker.
Decrease round: *knit 1, skp (= slip 1 knitwise, knit 1, pass the slipped st over), work to last 3 sts before next marker, knit 2 sts together, knit 1, slip marker*. Repeat *-* 3 more times. 8 sts decreased, 92 sts on the needles.
Work the decreases as before on every round. Switch to the double-pointed needles when you need to.
Keep decreasing until there are 5 sts on each needle.
Break yarn, pull it through the sts and close the hole.
Turn WS out and securely weave in the ends using a tapestry needle.
Finishing
Fold the brim once at 13 cm from the edge. Sew the cast-on edge to the WS.
Steam the hat lightly and fold the brim on the RS at 10 cm. Lightly steam the hat again.
