Stitch patterns Half brioche (flat): Row 1: *p1, k1*, keep repeating *–* to end of row. Row 2: *p1, knit the knit st, picking up the st on the previous row*, repeat *–* to end of row. Keep repeating rows 1–2.
Gauge 13 sts in half brioche = 10 cm / 4 in
Cast on 13 sts and work half brioche as follows:
Row 1: (WS) *p1, k1*, repeat *–* 6 times in total, p1.
Row 2: slip 1 with yarn in back, *p1, knit the knit st, picking up the st on the previous row*, repeat *–* 6 times in total, k1.
Row 3: (WS) slip 1 with yarn in front, *k1, p1*, repeat *–* 6 times in total, p1.
Keep repeating rows 2–3 until the piece measures 54 cm or desired length.
Bind off in ribbing: Knit 1, purl 1, pass the right-hand st over the left-hand one. Work another st in ribbing, pass the right-hand st over the left-hand one. Repeat until 1 st remains. Break yarn and pull it through the st.
Finishing
Align the corners of one end of the piece and sew approx. 3 cm of the edges together, starting at the corner and leaving a small hole in the middle.
Pull one corner of the other end of the piece through the hole and sew the corners together in the same manner.
Steam the headband lightly.
