Stitch patterns Ribbing in the round: *k1, p1*
Body
Using the smaller circular needle (80 cm), cast on 126(134)142(166)174(202) sts and work ribbing in the round for 8 cm. Place markers at the beginning of round and midpoint. 63(67)71(83)87(101) sts in the front and back.
Switch to the larger circular needle (80 cm) and begin the cable pattern on row 1 of the chart: *k4(6)8(5)7(5), work 1 st on the right end of the chart, repeat the 18 st pattern 3(3)3(4)4(5) times, k4(6)8(5)7(5)*, repeat *–*. Keep working 8(16)10(14)10 at both ends in stockinette st. Work rows 2–4 of the cable pattern, then keep repeating rows 5–12.
When the piece measures approx. 21(22)23(24)26(27) cm and you have last worked an odd-numbered row of the chart, divide the sts into two groups: work next round to last 2(2)3(3)4(4) sts before beginning of round marker, bind off next 4(4)6(6)8(8) sts for armhole. Work to last 2(2)3(3)4(4) sts before side marker, bind off 4(4)6(6)8(8) sts for armhole. 59(63)65(77)79(93) sts in the front and back.
Top front
Leave the back sts on hold. With the 59(63)65(77)79(93) front sts, work back and forth.
When the armhole measures 16(17)18(19)19(20) cm, loosely bind off the middle 17(17)17(19)19(19) sts for the neckline. Work one side at a time.
When the armhole measures 24(25)26(27)27(28) cm, bind off the 21(23)24(29)30(37) shoulder sts.
Knit the other side in the same manner.
Top back
With the 59(63)65(77)79(93) back sts, work back and forth.
When the armhole measures 24(25)26(27)27(28) cm, bind off.
Finishing
Sew the shoulder seams.
Neckline: Using the smaller circular needle (40 cm) and with RS facing, evenly pick up and knit a total of 54(54)56(56)58(58) sts from the neckline edge. Work ribbing in the round for 10 rounds, then bind off loosely. Fold the ribbing and sew the edge to the inside.
Armhole borders: Using the smaller circular needle (40 cm) and with RS facing, evenly pick up and knit a total of 56(58)60(62)62(64) sts from the armhole. Work ribbing in the round for 8 rounds, then bind off loosely. Fold the ribbing and sew the edge to the inside.
Knit the other armhole border in the same manner.
