Cowl: 7 sts to 10 cm measured over garter st with yarn held double.
Beanie: 10 sts to 10 cm measured over garter st
Cowl
With yarn held double cast on 80 sts. Work garter st in round: *Rnd 1: knit all sts. Rnd 2: purl all sts,rep from*. Work until cowl meas about 19 cm. Cast off all sts loosely.
Beanie
Using 40cm long circular needles cast on 52 sts. Work in rib:Rnd 1:*K1,P1,rep from* to end of rnd. Rep rnd 1. Continue in rib until beanie meas about 10 cm. Cont in garter st in round: *Rnd 1: knit all sts. Rnd 2: purl all sts, rep from*.
Work until beanie meas about 20 cm and you have finished with purl rnd. Next rnd: Start decreases as foll: * K11, sl1,K1,psso,rep from* 3 times (=48sts). Purl 1 rnd. Next rnd: * K10, sl1,K1,psso,rep from* 3 times (=44 sts). Purl 1 rnd. Cont decreases in this manner ( the amount of knitted sts is decreased by 1 each dec rnd; for example next rnd: * K9, sl1,K1,psso,rep from* and so on).
Change to double pointed needles after few dec rnds. When you have 24 sts left (=6 sts on each needle), purl 1 rnd. Break yarn leaving a long tail. Pull end through all sts and tighten it. Weave in all ends.
