Ribbing in the round: *k1, p1*
Using Silver Willow cast on 130(140)150(160) sts and divide them to four needles. The beginning of round is between needles I and IV. Work ribbing in the round for 7(7)8(10) cm, then knit 1 round.
Switch to Oat and knit 1 round. Begin the colourwork pattern on row 1 of the chart. Work the 10 st pattern repeat 13(14)15(16) times. Work rows 2-40 of the chart, then keep repeating rows 1-40.
When the piece measures approx. 16(17)19(21) cm from the cast-on edge, begin decreasing and continue the colourwork pattern:
Decrease round 1: *follow chart with 8 sts, k2tog using Oat*, repeat *-* 12(13)14(15) more times = 117(126)135(146) sts.
Next round: *follow chart with 8 sts, k1 using Oat*, repeat *-* 12(13)14(15) more times.
Decrease round 2: *follow chart with 7 sts, k2tog using Oat*, repeat *-* 12(13)14(15) more times = 104(112)120(130) sts.
Next round: *follow chart with 7 sts, k1 using Oat*, repeat *-* 12(13)14(15) more times.
13(14)15(16) sts decreased on each decrease round. 1 st less between the decreases after each time. Continue decreasing as established until 26(28)30(32) sts remain.
Continue with Oat. On the next round k2tog to end = 13(14)15(16) sts.
Break yarn, pull it through the sts and securely weave in.
Finishing
Lightly steam the hat. Fold the ribbing and sew the edge to the WS.
If you want, make 2 pompoms (approx. 6 cm in diameter) using Silver Willow and attach them to the hat.
