Stitch patterns:
- Rib stitch in the round:
All rounds: *K2, p2*
Start
Using larger needles and two strands of yarn A, cast on 100 (108) sts. Join to work in the round and work 5 (6) cm in rib stitch. Cut one strand of yarn. Continue with only the remaining strand and smaller needles.
Row 1: P to end.
Row 2: K to end and at the same time increase evenly 12 (12) sts = 112 (120) sts.
Start following colourwork chart from row 1 and repeat the 2 st pattern for 56 (60) times. Work rows 2-4 of the chart. Change to yarn A and work 3 rows in st st.
Continue following the chart from row 5 and repeat the 4 st pattern for 28 (30) times. Work rows 6-44 of the chart. Change to yarn A and work the rest of the hat in st st.
When the hat measures 23 (26) cm, work as follows:
Next alternate decrease row: *K1, k2tog*, repeat *-* until you have 1 (0) st on the needle, k1 (-) = 75 (80) sts.
Next row: K to end.
Next alternate decrease row: K2tog to end = 38 (40) sts.
Next row: K to end.
Next alternate decrease row: K2tog to end.
Cut yarn, thread through remaining sts and pull tight. Weave in ends.
Finishing
Steam block gently.
Using yarn B, make a pom-pom (circumference ca. 6 cm) and fasten it on the top of the hat.
