Child's beanie worked in combination of rib and cable pattern using Novita 7 Veljestä (7 Brothers) yarn. Beanie is embellished with pink-white pom-pom.

Beanie
Using double-pointed needles cast on 112 sts. Distribute sts evenly over 4 of the 5 needles ( 28 sts on each needle) and, taking care not to twist cast-on edge and using 5th needle, work in rounds as follows: Work in rib in round: *K2,P2,rep from* to end. Work until beanie meas 4 cm. Beg and ending rnds as indicated, cont in patt from chart as folls:
Rnd 1: work 28 sts, K2,P2, work 6 st cable patt from chart, cont in rib to end. Rep rnds 1-8. Work until beanie meas 20 cm.
Dec rnd 1: P2tog each purled st stripe in rib. Work 1 rnd.
Dec rnd 2: K2tog each knitted st stripe in rib =56 sts. Work 1 rnd.
Dec rnd 3: *K2tog, rep from * to end = 28 sts.
Break yarn leaving a long tail. Pull end through all sts and tighten it. Weave in all ends.
Making Up
Steam the beanie lightly. If preferred, fold the bottom edge rib =4 cm in half and sew it to the RS. Make a pom-pom using pink and white yarn. Sew on pom-pom.
