Stitch patterns:
- Ribbing in the round:
*k1, p1*
Using the main colour, cast on 90 sts and distribute the sts evenly onto four double-pointed needles. The beginning of the round is between needles I and IV. Work 7 cm of ribbing in the round and then knit 2 rounds.
Begin the colourwork from row 1 of chart and work the 10 st pattern repeat 9 times. Work rows 2-33 of the chart. The hat measures approx. 22 cm.
Work the rest of hat in stockinette stitch using the main colour. Begin the decreases:
1st decrease round: *skp (=slip 1 st knitwise, k1, pass the slipped st over), k8*, repeat *-* 8 more times = 81 sts.
2nd decrease round: *skp, k7*, repeat *-* 8 more times = 72 sts.
1 st less between the decreases after each round, 9 sts decreased in total after each round. Continue in this manner until 18 sts remain.
Break the yarn, pull it through the stitches and securely weave in the ends.
Finishing
Steam the hat lightly.
Using the contrast colour, make a pompom approx. 7 cm in diameter.
