Cast on
Cast on 62 sts. Work in rib: Row 1:*K2,P2, rep from* to end. Row 2: *K2, P2, rep from * to end. These 2 rows form rib. Continue in rib until beanie meas 6 cm. Next row (RS): knit one row. Next row (WS): K1, *yrn, P1,rep from * until 1 st is left on your left hand needle, K1. (RS): Beg and ending rows as indicated, cont in patt from chart as folls: Row 2: Work 5sts as indicated in chart (from right edge), repeat 4st patt 13 times, work 5sts from left edge in chart. Cont in patt and repeat rows 1.-4. a total of 6 times.
Shaping and making up
Start decreases on WS: *P2tog,rep from * to end of row (=32sts). Knit 1 row. Next row: (WS): *P2tog,rep from * to end of row (=16sts). Knit 1 row. Break yarn leaving a long tail for joining the seams. Pull end through all sts and tighten it. Join seams using back stitch or matress stitch if preferred. Weave in all ends.
