The back

Cast on 134(146)154(162)174(186) sts and begin the ribbing on the wrong side of the work with a k2. Continue for 6 cm, and on the last WS row, decrease 1 st = 133(145)153(161)173(185) sts.

Begin the lace pattern from row 1 of chart: work 37(43)47(51)57(63) sts in stockinette st and then work 3 sts from the right end of the chart. Repeat the 12 st pattern repeat 4 times, work 8 sts from the left end of the chart and end by working 37(43)47(51)57(63) sts in stockinette st. Keep repeating rows 1-12 of the chart for the lace.

When the piece measures 14(14)15(15)16(16) cm, decrease 1 st on both ends: on the RS row, k2, skp, and when 4 sts remain, k2tog, k2. Repeat the decreases as before every 2 cm for 11(11)11(10)10(10) more times = 109(121)129(139)151(163) sts.

When the piece measures 48(49)50(51)53(54) cm, increase 1 st on both ends for the armhole: on the RS row, k1, make 1 (=pick up the strand of yarn between the sts and knit it through the back loop) and when 1 st remains, m1, k1. Repeat the increases every 2(2)2(2,5)2,5(2,5) cm for 9 more times = 129(141)149(159)171(183) sts.

When the armhole measures 22(23)24(25)25(26) cm, bind off on both ends on every 2nd row 6x5 sts and 2x6 sts (8x6 sts) 4x6 sts and 4x7 sts (1x8 sts and 7x7 sts) 1x7 sts and 7x8 sts (3x8 sts and 5x9 sts) for the shoulder.

Note: When the armhole measures 24(25)26(27)27(28) cm, bind off the middle 41 sts for the neckline, working one side of the neckline at a time. After 2 rows, bind off 1x2 sts at the neckline edge.

Knit the other side of the neckline to match.

The front

Cast on 134(146)154(162)174(186) sts and begin the ribbing on the WS with a k2. Continue for 4 cm, and on the last WS row decrease 1 st = 133(145)153(161)173(185) sts.

When the piece measures 8(8)9(9)10(10) cm, decrease 1 st on both ends: on the RS row, k2, skp, and when 4 sts remain, k2tog, k2. Repeat the decreases as before every 2 cm for 11(11)11(10)10(10) more times = 109(121)129(139)151(163) sts.

Note: When the piece measures approx. 19(19)20(20)21(21) cm and you have worked the decreases a total of 5 times, mark the places for the pockets: on the RS row, k2(4)4(8)14(20) sts, knit the next 30(34)38(38)38(38) sts with a piece of scrap yarn, move these sts back onto the left-hand needle and knit them using the working yarn. Work the next 59 sts in the lace pattern, knit the following 30(34)38(38)38(38) sts with a piece of scrap yarn, move these sts back onto the left-hand needle and knit them using the working yarn, k2(4)4(8)14(20).

When the piece measures 42(43)44(45)47(48) cm, increase 1 st on both ends for the armhole: on the RS row, k1, make 1 ((=pick up the strand of yarn between the sts and knit it through the back loop) and when 1 st remains, m1, k1. Repeat the increases every 2(2)2(2,5)2,5(2,5) cm for 9 more times = 129(141)149(159)171(183) sts.

Note: When the armhole measures 12(13)14(15)15(16) cm, leave the middle 15 sts on hold for the neckline and switch to working one side of the neckline at a time. On the neckline edge, bind off 1x3 sts, 2x2 sts and 8x1 st every 2nd row.

Bind of the shoulder sts at the same point as you did on the back piece.

Knit the other side of the neckline to match.

Finishing

Lay the pieces to measurements wrong side up, mist with a spray bottle and allow to dry. Sew the shoulder seams.

The collar: Move the sts on hold at the neckline onto the circular needle and pick up and knit sts from the neckline edge. 148(148)152(152)152(152) sts on the needles. Work ribbing in the round. When the collar measures 10 cm, increase 1 st onto each pair of knitted sts on the next round = 185(185)190(190)190(190) sts. When the collar measures 25 cm, bind off loosely.

Finishing the armholes: Pick up 22 sts for every 10 cm along the armhole and work ribbing for 3 cm. Bind off in pattern. Knit the other armhole to match.

Sew the side seams so that a slit remains on the hem (4 cm on the front and 10 cm on the back).

The pockets: Remove the scrap yarn and place the sts onto two needles. Work in ribbing with the lower sts for 3 cm and bind off in pattern.

For the pocket, work in stockinette st with the upper sts and increase 1 st on both ends. After 15(15)16(16)17(17) cm, bind off. Sew the pocket onto the wrong side. Sew the ends of the ribbed edge neatly onto the right side of the garment.
