Women's Lace Sweater Novita Baby Wool

Knitted in Novita Baby Wool, this beautiful sweater features different lace patterns for the bodice and the sleeves.

Stitch patterns:
- Ribbing:
*knit 1, purl 1, repeat from * to end. On the wrong side (WS) rows, knit the knit stitches and purl the purl stitches.
- Lace pattern:
knit according to the chart and the written instructions.
- Stockinette stitch:
knit all stitches in the RS rows, purl all stitches on the WS rows.
- Ribbing in the round:
*k1, p1

The Back

Using the smaller needle cast on 87(99)111(123) sts and begin the ribbing on a WS row with a k1. Work in ribbing for approx. 3 cm and then purl through the next WS row.

Change to the larger needle and start the lace pattern from row 1 of chart I(I)II(II): k1 border stitch, knit 6(12)18(24) sts from the right end of the chart, repeat the 24 st pattern repeat 3 times, knit 7(13)19(25) s from the left end of the chart and k1 border st. Repeat rows 1-20 of the chart.

When the piece measures 37(38)40(42) cm, bind off for the armholes on both ends 1x6 sts. Decrease on both ends on every 2nd row an additional 6x1 st: k1 border stitch, skp (slip, knit, pass slipped stitch over) and when 3 sts remain k2 tog, k1. After the decreases 63(75)87(99) sts remain on the needles.

When the armhole measures 17(18)19(20) cm, bind off the center 39 sts for the neckline and switch to working each side of the neck separately. Bind off 2x1 st on every 2nd row on the neckline edge.

When the armhole measures 19(20)21(22) cm, bind off 10(16)22(28) shoulder sts.

Knit the other side of the neckline to match.

The Front

Knit as the back piece, but begin the neckline decreases when the armhole measures 9(10)11(12) cm. Leave the 17 center sts on hold for the neckline and knit one side of the neckline first. Decrease on the neckline edge on every 2nd row 3x2 sts and 7x1 st.

When the armhole measures 19(20)21(22) cm, bind off 10(16)22(28) shoulder sts.

Knit the other side of the neckline to match.

Sleeves

Using the smaller needle cast on 43(43)47(47) sts and begin the ribbing on a WS row with a k1. Work in ribbing for approx. 3 cm and then purl the next WS row.

Begin the lace pattern from row 1 of chart III: knit 2(2)0(0), knit 7 sts from the right end of the chart and then repeat the 8 st pattern repeat 3(3)4(4) times, knit 8 sts from the left end of the chart and then knit 2(2)0(0). Work 2(2)0(0) sts in stockinette st on both ends and repeat rows 1-6 of the lace pattern chart for the lace sts.

When the piece measures 14(15)16(10) cm, increase 1 st on both ends. Repeat the increases every 3(2,5)2,5(2,5) cm for another 10(12)12(15) times = 65(69)73(79) sts. Keep working the lace pattern also with the increased sts.

When the piece measures 47(48)49(50) cm, bind off on both ends on every 2nd row 1x5(7)9(9) sts, 5x2 sts and 2x3 sts. Bind off the remaining sts.

Knit the other sleeve to match.

Finishing

Lay the pieces wrong side up to the measurements on a surface, mist with a spray bottle and let dry.

Sew the shoulder seams.

Finishing the neckline: Move the neckline sts from the scrap yarn on to the circular needle and pick up and knit sts from the neckline so that you will have 100(100)104(104) sts total on the needles. Work ribbing in the round for 2 cm and then bind off in pattern.

Attach the sleeves.

Sew the side seams and the sleeve seams.
