Tiiraluoto sweater Novita Nordic Wool ja Wool Cotton
This colourwork sweater is inspired by the hundreds of islands off the Helsinki coast. The sweater is knitted seamlessly from the neckline to the hem and cuffs. This is a lovely mother-daughter project. The matching pattern is Tiiraluoto kids’ sweater.

Stitch patterns Ribbing in the round: *k1, p1*, repeat *–*. Stockinette stitch in the round: knit all rows. Colourwork in the round: work stockinette st in the round following the chart. Gauge 21 sts and 27 rows of stockinette st with the larger needles = 10 cm / 4 in; on the yoke 21 sts and 24 rows of colourwork with the larger needles (switch needles as needed) = 10 cm / 4 in
Note The sweater is knitted seamlessly from neckline to hem and cuffs following the pattern.
Yoke
Using the smaller 40 cm circular needle and the off-white yarn, cast on 104(110)114(114)120 sts and work ribbing in the round for 2,5 cm.
Switch to the larger 40 cm needle. Work stockinette st for 2(2)2(3)3 rounds, evenly increasing 1(0)1(6)5 sts on the second round = 105(110)115(120)125 sts.
Keep working in the round and begin the colourwork pattern on row 1 of the chart. Work the 5 st pattern repeat 21(22)23(24)25 times. Work rows 2–7 of the chart. On row 5, 1 st increased in each pattern repeat = 126(132)138(144)150 sts.
Work rows 8–11 of the chart. On row 8, 1 st increased in each pattern repeat = 147(154)161(168)175 sts.
Note: Switch to the longer circular needle when you need to.
Work rows 12–18. On row 12, 1 st increased in each pattern repeat = 168(176)184(192)200 sts.
Work rows 19–27. On row 19, 2 sts increased in each pattern repeat = 210(220)230(240)250 sts.
Work rows 28–30. On row 28, 1 sts increased in each pattern repeat = 231(242)253(264)275 sts.
Work rows 31–38. On row 31, 1 sts increased in each pattern repeat = 252(264)276(288)300 sts.
Work stockinette st in the round using the off-white yarn and evenly increase 17(19)21(18)22 sts on the next round = 269(283)297(306)322 sts.
When the yoke measures 18(18)19(20)21 cm after the ribbing, evenly increase 17(19)21(18)22 sts on the next round = 286(302)318(324)344 sts. Knit 1 round.
Body
On the next round, work 85(91)97(100)106 sts (back), leave the next 58(60)62(62)66 sts on hold (sleeve), cast on 10(12)14(20)22 sts for the armhole, work 85(91)97(100)106 sts (front), leave the next 58(60)62(62)66 sts on hold (sleeve), cast on 10(12)14(20)22 sts for the other armhole.
Work stockinette st in the round with these 190(206)222(240)256 sts.
When the piece measures 36(37)38(39)41 cm from the armhole, switch to the smaller circular needle and work ribbing in the round for 4 cm.
Loosely bind off in pattern.
Sleeves
Move the 58(60)62(62)66 sts on hold onto the double-pointed needles and pick up 10(12)14(20)22 sts from the armhole cast-on = 68(72)76(82)88 sts.
The beginning of the round is at the midpoint of the picked-up sts. Work stockinette st in the round.
When the sleeve measures 4(3)3(3)2 cm from the armhole, on the next round decrease 1 st after the first st and 1 st before the last st. Repeat the decreases every 3,5(3,5)3(2,5)2,5 cm 10(11)13(15)17 more times = 46(48)48(50)52 sts.
When the sleeve measures 43(44)45(45)46 cm from the armhole, switch to the smaller double-pointed needles and work ribbing in the round for 4 cm.
Loosely bind off in pattern.
Knit the other sleeve in the same manner.
