Left Hand Mitten
Using double-pointed needles cast on 35[47:51] sts loosely. Distribute sts over 4 of the 5 needles as folls: 8, 8, 10 , 9[11, 11, 13 ,12: 12, 12, 14 , 13]. Taking care not to twist cast-on edge and using 5th needle, work in rounds, beg and ending rnds as indicated, work in patt from chart as folls:
Rnd 1: K1[0:1], * P1, K1, rep from * 9(14)15 times, work 10 st cable patt from chart, ** K1, P1, rep from ** to end. Rep rnds 1-8 over 10 st patt, work in rib the rest of the sts until cuff meas 6[7:8] cm. Cont in stocking st and 10 st patt. Work 2 rnds.
Thumb Gusset
Work until you have 4 sts left on needle II., M1 =make one stitch by picking up horizontal loop before next stitch and knitting into back of it, K2, M1, K2, work to end. Rep increases every 3rd rnd 3(5)6 times. Work 1 rnd. Work next round to the begginning of the thumb gusset. Put 10[14:16] sts of the thumb gusset on a holder, cast on 2 sts, cont in round as indicated. Work until the mitten covers the little finger = about 9[13:15] cm after rib.

Rep decreases every alt rnd 5(6)7 times. Rep decreases every rnd until you have 7[11:11] sts. Break yarn leaving a long end. Pull end through all sts and tighten it. Weave in all ends.
Thumb
Rejoin yarn to 10[14:16] sts on a holder and pick up 2 sts from hand edge (=back of the thumb) =12[16:18] sts. Distribute sts evenly over 3 needles. Work in stocking st in rnd. Work until thumb meas 3,5[5:5,5] cm.
Dec rnds: K2tog at the end of each needle until you have 4 sts left. K1, pass 3 sts over from left to right. Weave in all ends.
Right Hand Mitten
Work as left hand mitten reversing all shapings. Make thumb gusset after 2 sts on needle III.
